One day…
Two shows later,I’m still “hoping’ to upload some pics here….of my beads and some pieces that I enameled for “Enamel Revisited”,an Enamel show we put up as the Delhi Chapter of the Enamelist Society of India.Pity, the pics just don’t seem to have done justice to the pieces.
A few years ago,I wanted to do everything I wanted to ….because I felt a tug in my heart and I just wanted to follow my instinct…it was all eclectic….enameling, pottery, beading, wire work, putting together jewelry, and adding to the “to do”list and then following it all up…..soon,I was exploring polymer clay, precious metal clay and even lampworking…
Of course, the quest to learn well skills to work with the last three media,i.e.,polymer clay, precious metal clay and lampworking had me visit the UK,US and Japan…and it has been a fascinating journey ever since.
What is fascinating is how, gradually, all of my eclectic passions are beginning to find a collective voice in my pieces….enameled silver clay pieces braided with cords and seed beads, ceramic pendants on woven copper wire chokers…kumihimo braids for lampworked babies…and there’s more in the offing….with collage making and creative journaling to boot.
It feels good to be able to create each piece all by myself…..it’s a heady mix of independence and complete creative expression that gets translated into the work without having to articulate it to another, for help with components…to me, it feels good to think that the wearer of the piece gets a piece that is actually a part of my heart and soul:)…and that it will be cherished for ever:).
Will try and get some happy pictures of my work posted here:).
